About this deal

Whether she's Olga the explorer, Olga the prizewinner, or Olga the storyteller, she is always Olga da Polga! Kuvitus on ihana ja marsun elämän käänteitähän tässä käsitellään Olga da Polga -nimisen elikon näkökulmasta. Unlike Bond's more famous character, Paddington Bear, Olga is a teller of tall tales in the style of Baron Munchausen. He is sceptical of Olga's Baron Münchhausen-like tales, claiming not to believe them, but he still often listens to them with great attention.

We work closely with publishers and authors to ensure that we offer the best books on the market for your child. The typical plot of each story is that something fairly ordinary happens to Olga, and she gives her animal friends a wildly exaggerated version of events, subsequently revealed to be untrue by what the humans say. These stories, however, all feature Olga da Polga, a self-important, mischievous and imaginative guinea pig, who loves telling wildly exaggerated tales about her experiences to her friends. Also interesting, for anyone who keeps guinea pigs, is the fact that Michael Bond became great friends with Peter Gurney, when he treated Karen's guinea pig, who had been the inspiration for Olga da Polga.

Although they are not always sure whether to believe everything Olga says, one thing is certain-since Olga moved in, life is never dull! Olga da Polga is both the story of guinea pig Olga da Polga’s new life with the Sawdust family and thirteen complete, stand-alone stories disguised as chapters.

Olga da Polga is a fictional guinea pig, who is the heroine of a series of books for children written by Michael Bond and published between 1971 and 2002. Peter Gurney has been acknowledged as one of the world's experts in guinea pig welfare and care, having campaigned for most of his life for better knowledge and training of small animals within the British veterinary profession. But due to a noble act (which I will not spoil by telling you about) they sacrificed them and were awarded their rosettes.Whether she’s Olga the explorer, Olga the prizewinner, or Olga the storyteller, she is always Olga da Polga!
