I Wrote This For You is wonderful because it can speak to so many people at so many different levels. It really touches something inside of you, and I even went on the blog that the entries were originally from to read more. If this book, as well as the passages, are as popular as they've become then it says one thing about humans - we are much more similar than we believe. He lives in Cape Town, South Africa and shares his home with his wife, daughter and various animals. Now, given the fact that I went looking for something like The Lover’s Dictionary, a comparison of some sort is natural, though unfair.

Being a hopeless romantic myself, I could relate to or at least imagine the emotions and images behind the simply-worded sentences.The magnificent beauty of I Wrote This For You is quite simply this: the book is elegantly incomplete without you. There’s no one and nothing left to cry about, so why don’t you go ahead and cry a little more about yourself. I highlighted a few lines here and there, but it nothing that made me think too hard or sit back and go "whoa. Night trains , broken lights , tunnels ,Buddha , beer , weak hands and coldness felt like pictures from a far dream , fleeting visions of love and hurt and half-lighted candles. There’s no real connection between the chapters, though you can try hard to find some, or even fool yourself into believing there is, but they are all separate pieces.

I Wrote This For You" is a collection of nearly 200 of the most beautiful and meaningful entries about life, love, loss, beginnings, ending, and, above all, hope. While focusing on the words from the project, new photography launches each section which speaks to the reader's journey through the world: Love Found, Being In Love, Love Lost, Hope, Despair, Living and Dying.
