About this deal

Packaging a gear in a black sturdy box has been a common practice with a lot of companies who want to underline premium quality of what to expect inside. The P5W has an undeniably more premium look and feel but there is a certain charm to the wooden earcups of the On2. View image in fullscreen The left ear cup has a microUSB port for charging and a power slider, which puts the headphones into pairing mode if held down for a couple of seconds. The whole construction feel very solid, and headband adjustment is buttery smooth while still requiring a little bit of force so it doesn't slide out loosely.

Earcup is attached on one side to a solid curved chrome metal double wire that waves into the headband. Comparing to on-ear Beyer T51p, P5 bass felt deeper and had a bit more quantity, while T51p Tesla drivers delivered more low end details. I suggest you guys grab the "refurbished" ones which run for way way cheaper, but again that is if you guys could cope with some cosmetic imperfections along the way (mine did not come with any tho lol, its more like a 'chance' of receiving imperfections). Regarding sound isolation, you do have to be realistic this is on-ear design which can't be compared to over-ear, thus you should expect to hear outside noise but with a good attenuation while still being aware of surrounding.Regardless of your level of audio-equipment enthusiasm, the P5s are a worthwhile upgrade even for the MP3/iPod user. Under the cover you have a form fitting tray with P5 sitting flat thanks to 90 degree rotated earcups. It had a nice soundstage with slightly above the average width and an average depth with a more intimate feeling. The play/pause button and volume rocker offer gratifying tactility with only a gentle press and they operated without a hitch.

The location of buttons on the back of earcup was very convenient and easy to ID by sliding a finger to find a button in the middle. They have a built-in auto-off timer that switches the headphones off within 10 minutes of not using them. The earcups and headband are made out of plastic on the inside, but are covered with luxurious genuine leather on the outside to give them a unique look and feel. Just keep in mind that you can get up to 17 hours of listening time from a single charge at moderate volume level. The supplied cable is very thin rubberized affair that is full of kinks and while it works as intended it looks and feels very cheap in stark contrast to the finely crafted headphones.P5W has a nice fold flat design with earcups rotating 90 degrees, and a soft quilted case with a magnetic flip cover does a good job of cushioning and protecting it. However, the shape of the inline controls looks dual-sided which can take a little time to get used to. Harriet Wheeler’s breathy, heartfelt vocals on The Sundays’ Wild Horses soar, with each inflection and nuance laid bare.

But a soft case doesn’t offer the best protection when you are traveling and want to shelter your headphone investment. A play through of Scarface's "Untouchable" reveals a sub-bass that extends surprisingly well and rumbles nicely in the earcups without upsetting the overall balance of things. Their sound is a bit tinny, but they should still please most listeners with their better-than-average audio reproduction. Classical-music fans will be happy that the string tone on the P5s has a lot of body and never becomes shrill. As for sound quality, the P5 Wireless are very impressive, retaining much of the sonic character of the excellent, wired P5 S2s. Sound (8/10): There is no denying that the P5 is a brilliant portable headphone from a usability standpoint, but it also holds its own in sound quality against the other consumer-oriented sets in this lineup. taking in consideration that I generally use this cans on the go and during work time, I mostly use them with my iDevice (iPhone, iPod, or iPad).
