About this deal

I was given a review copy of this graphic novel by Random House and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. It was interesting to read about the evolution of the SAS, desert travel, the raids on Axis airfields and railways and the day to day camp life in the conflict zone.

The nominees, chosen by a blue-ribbon panel of judges, reflect the wide range of material being published in comics and graphic novel form today, from history (real and imagined) to science fiction to autobiography. The Black Rock Coffin Makers - Jim Gatlin, new Tucker arrival mistaken for Jim Walker, takes on missing farmer's claim against town bigshot Wing Cary. I enjoy the way L’Amour can weave a tale from front to back, taking you from present day to the past, that gives you context for the character’s desire for revenge, back to present choices again. Magazine submissions from 1942-53, most 1949-51 glow with polishing from originals, reason enough to try for legal version.

Morgan fixes Hallam's window, quits Sherman, but injured in shootout offers Vic grandfather clock for corner "through the blood that frothed his lips" p231. There is something deeply satisfying to my soul about these stories of hard life in rugged desert country where sometimes the difference among choices involving living and dying is very slight. If you have concerns about the language in this record, or you have information to improve it, please share your feedback. Never like short stories but rarely do I not like anything written by Louis L Amour and this was not an exception. This engagement shoot will always be memorable not just because of the incredible pictures we got but because of how much I truly enjoyed the experience.

Not only the stories were good but the author injected his own vast experience of the western landscape and history with short preambles that related to the short story.Born of the Desert was written soon after the events depicted and has an immediacy which places it above other Second World War memoirs.
